Spotify connect launched a while ago but what is it and what can you exactly do with it?

In short, Spotify connect lets you control and play music from the Spotify app on your phone to another Spotify enabled device synced over the cloud.

Say what?

Imagine you are listening to Spotify on your phone and you come home. With just a press of a button you can switch from local playback on your phone to playback on another device.

To get Spotify Connect working, there are a few steps to follow.

First of all, make sure that your are a Spotify Premium user. If you are a free user or an Unlimited user, the Spotify Connect feature is not available.

Once that’s out of the way, open the Spotify app on your phone and start playing a song. In the play menu at the bottom you will see the Spotify Connect logo near the pause, back, and forward controls during playback.

Click the Spotify Connect logo and a menu will appear in which Spotify enabled speakers in your network are shown.

If you have Spotify enable speakers, these will appear in the list. Click on their name and the music playback to that speaker will start!

If this list is empty, this means that you don’t currently have any Spotify enabled speakers.
